Jantokoi -雀と鯉-
Jantokoi is a unit formed by gamaOil, who was born in Gokayama, Toyama Prefecture, which is known for Japan's oldest folk songs, and who plays traditional songs, flutes, and percussion instruments, and E-Da, a spiritual drummer who was active in Boredoms and in the 1990s. Gama's folk songs blend into the organic flow of the groove, which is created through a swirling dialogue that makes use of the simple and fundamental sounds of percussion instruments. The cosmic feel of the natural mix of electronic instruments transcends the modern past and gives a sense of life that connects to the future.
日本最古の民謡で知られる富山県は五箇山生まれのDNAをもち、伝承歌・笛・打楽器を操るgamaOilと９０年代Boredoms ,AOAで活動していたスピリチュアルドラマーE -Daが合体したユニット、Jantokoi -雀と鯉-。
シンプルかつ根源的な打楽器音の響きを活かしためぐるめく掛け合いの中で生まれるグルーヴの有機的な流れに混ざり込んでいくgamaOilの民謡。
そこに電子楽器をも自然に混ぜていく宇宙感は現代過去も超越し、未来へとつながる生命感を感じさせてくれる。
